We offer a neurodiversity affirming approach to speech and language therapy services, tailored to meet the needs of our young people and their families. Our team is dedicated to providing expert care and support, working alongside parents to provide individualised therapy and support. These services are offered in our Wakefield based clinic.
How the clinic process works
Speech and Language needs identified by an adult

An initial assessment is booked via our website with or without a report. Parent and child attend our welcoming clinic for an assessment. Our therapist will then advise on appropriate therapy options.
Book your therapy appointments using our website. Parent and child attend our clinic for therapy sessions.
Our therapists will continue to review your child's needs during their therapy sessions and discuss their progress with you. They will advise when they feel that therapy is complete

Initial assessment (no report)
An initial assessment is required before booking other clinical services for children aged 4+. This takes around 40 minutes to complete and allows the therapist to carry out assessments, observations and discuss your child's speech, language and communication skills. Completion of this assessment is essential for the therapist to determine the most appropriate therapeutic approach and interventions tailored to your child's needs.

Initial assessment with report
Initial assessments (with report) include a written statement of your child's speech, language and communication needs. Reports are typically recommended for children new to speech and language therapy (SaLT) services or those requiring a formal statement of needs for their educational setting or evidence to support the Right To Choose pathway.

Under 3s screen
This screener is only recommended for children aged up to 2 years and 11 months. This involves the caregiver completing a questionnaire to understand more about your child's current speech, language and communication skills. In the session, we will use play-based assessment to discuss how to help your child achieved their speech, language and communication milestones and provide advice and guidance on how you can support them.

Standard/short therapy sessions
Standard therapy sessions are offered to children with speech sound difficulties and/or language difficulties. Standard therapy sessions are the most effective approach to supporting speech & language skills. [40 minutes]

Short therapy are beneficial for younger children who may find longer sessions more challenging. Additionally, these shorter appointments offer a convenient option for parents with time constraints.

Child-led therapy session
Our child-led therapy sessions allow our therapists to attain ongoing language samples that determine individualised support. These play-based sessions focus on special interests, sensory preferences and fun motivators that allow us to build communicative foundations for your child. These sessions enable families to learn how they can best support social communication and emotional regulation in the wider environment. Our therapists will advise at the session whether this would be beneficial to your child.

Under 4s package
This 6 week block of therapy for children under the age of 4 is led by our Specialist VERVE therapist and directly supports the progression of early language and communication skills. These sessions involve hands-on practise of specific strategies to empower parents to feel confident in supporting their child's communication skills.
